Review of Repo! The Genetic Opera

Repo! The Genetic Opera

I'm not a fan of musicals, opera or bloody horror, BUT this one is an awesome blend of all 3 that beats the ones I did sort of like (Clockwork Orange, RHPS & Burlesque) & I can't imagine this movie done any other way. The gore was about 7-10 minutes MAX of the entire film, the music--even opera which I deeply dislike--was fantastic, the acting great, the story wild & cartoonish at times, yet spot on. LOVED this movie, plan to buy the DVD. I'm 48 this month so am not a teen goth, viewer doesn't need to be to appreciate this, MUCH better than the RHPS of my youth, as good as Burlesque in its own unique way. Sexy, futuristic, gothic, dark, incredible story intentionally campy & an instant cult classic. Unpredictable twists, no boring parts to fast forward through, no F-bombs, very little if any nudity, highly recommend this & WILL watch it repeatedly on DVD. The costumes & production were excellent. Had hoped for a soundtrack but this used in-house musicians, bummer.
