Metal: a Conundrum?

What is it about metal that creates so many die hard fans? Besides the rebellion factor of the music being so different from one's parent's music or the folk music of the 60's, for me it's all about the sound. For others it might be the look, and granted sexy long haired musicians are a sight to see, but the black leather and denim attire, the punkish styles, the anarchic bent, is a small part of what metal means to many. Documentaries, notably "A Headbanger's Journey" have done an excellent job of exploring the meaning of metal and its roots, so this is just a personal observation from a metal fan.

Metal is all about the guitar, in my mind, referring to the strings and amplified sound that at times can scream, cry like a baby, wah wah wah or whisper sweet nothings in one's ears. The slower heavy beat drags me in with an irresistible urge to nod the head in time to the rhythm.

I don't believe acoustic guitar can ever be metal, although metal guitarists do acoustic versions of their songs, I've never known a purely acoustic band considered metal, have you?

To be a drummer in a metal band seems like it would be a lowly position, it certainly isn't about you. The drums keep the beat, they are background sound to the metal focus. No one is there to see the drummer, right? However, there are famous metal drummers just like in any other genre, and as much argument over who is good versus bad.

Just when we think we know what metal is about, guitars & distortion, we are thrown a curveball in sub-genres like death metal which seems to be more about the growl than the guitar, or speed metal, whose pace is set by the racing double drumming.

In a rock band, or a blues band, it's about the band or the sound as a whole, with each instrument as necessary to the music as any other, and each member gets to shine. With some exceptions like Jimi Hendrix, all about that lead guitar, a forerunner of metal music, the transition from blues to rock to metal that slowly transpired to create the metal genres we now celebrate.

Many of the early metal bands, such as Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden, used theatricality to pose as evil death and devil worshippers that they now admit were false impressions used for their art, not a philosophy they actually believed or practiced. Yet their pose actually inspired other groups to focus on the practice of satanism and similar activities, notably the Finnish Black metal bands, for the most part metal has zero to do with the devil or any religion or lack of same.

For me, and most, metal is about the music, always has been and always will be. We are diehards, and we aren't going anywhere any time soon.
Metal Music Definition, From Wiki:
Heavy metal (often referred to simply as metal) is a genre of rock music[1] that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s, largely in the Midlands of the United Kingdom and in the United States.[2] With roots in blues rock and psychedelic rock, the bands that created heavy metal developed a thick, massive sound, characterized by highly amplified distortion, extended guitar solos, emphatic beats, and overall loudness. Heavy metal lyrics and performance styles are generally associated with masculinity and machismo.[3]

The first heavy metal bands, such as Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, and Deep Purple, eventually attracted large audiences, though many were critically reviled (with the notable exception of Led Zeppelin), a status common throughout the history of the genre. In the mid-1970s Judas Priest helped spur the genre's evolution by discarding much of its blues influence;[4][5] Motörhead introduced a punk rock sensibility and an increasing emphasis on speed. Bands in the New Wave of British Heavy

Metal such as Iron Maiden followed in a similar vein. Before the end of the decade, heavy metal fans became known as "metalheads" or "headbangers".

In the 1980s, glam metal became a major commercial force with groups like Mötley Crüe and Poison. Underground scenes produced an array of more extreme, aggressive styles: thrash metal broke into the mainstream with bands such as Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, and Anthrax, while other styles like death metal and black metal remain subcultural phenomena. Since the mid-1990s, popular styles such as nu metal, which often incorporates elements of grunge and hip hop; and metalcore, which blends extreme
metal with hardcore punk, have further expanded the definition of the genre.AWOLGinahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18390546994040652145noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6137584475190870981.post-42579470180900479992012-05-27T15:16:00.003-04:002012-05-27T15:16:47.721-04:00Sex IS Music IS Sex
Sex IS Music IS Sex
by Gina Jordan on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at 3:08pm ·

I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed this, watching live performances especially & guitar players the most of all. When playing an instrument, the look on their faces is what I imagine is the same look & grimaces, facial expressions, they have during great sex. As if enjoying the music, performing it, requires a letting go of self-consciousness, or of control, and the few musicians who refuse to let go, have no passion in their sound. I first noticed this with Jimmy Page in Song Remains the Same, versus modern It Might Get Loud, that his facial expressions are the SAME after all these years, as when he was truly into the playing & lost himself in the music, his face reflects an almost orgasmic looking bliss. Then I started paying closer attention to the facial expressions & body language of famous guitarists in the Woodstock film footage, such as Hendrix, Ten Years After Alvin Lee, Richie Havens, and when they truly let go & sink into their music, it is quite clearly a sexual experience going by their facial expressions and body language.

When a great guitar player holds that guitar right in front of their genitals, the vibration from the instrument must resonate through into their body, their sex organs, the friction alone would be stimulating, and sometimes it looks to me as if the guitar is an extension of their penis, and they are a virtuoso on their organ, playing their music & in some other time & place transported by the playing. Take a close look at their faces, such as Stevie Ray Vaughan as he wails on his guitars, especially during lead guitar parts where the guitar sounds as if it is screaming, moaning, growling even, with the sounds forced from its belly, in an agony of ecstacy. One can see the same expressions on any extremely talented and passionate musician's face during the parts the listeners especially love & react too, as if we are all passing blissful energy back & forth, around in a circle from instrument to musician & back to them on around to us, our body mind & soul, to those near us willing to let go & feel the pleasure, resonating back again to the musician. Like an orgy of sound & orgasmic energy, sound pressure levels, waves, building & building to the climactic moment together, as one.

Often those listening feel the same blissful energy, the music affects the body, our blood & fluids, like our moon does the tides, music is more than just a sound, it is an experience, a feeling, a surrrender, loss of control to the pleasure, a closing of the eyes, an expression of deepest joy, a clenching of our bodies, a stiffening of our sex organs, a stimulation of the very essence of out beings. I've read scientific studies that prove the effect music has on the physical, mental & spiritual body, whether human or animal, plant, liquid or mineral, music has a profound power to alter us for the good or the bad, to heal and to harm, to uplift, to enrage, and yes, to completion and climax as well. I've always thought I was the only one who called the experience eargasms, the full body goose bumps head to toe, hair standing on end, whole body orgasm only passionately played music can create or satisfy. I've found that many people use the same term so I'm not the only one noticing, though perhaps I may have been one of the first to coin that phrase back in the 80's, it is quite possible I am the only one who painted it across her windshield & on a license plate. I have definitely experienced full body orgasms from music, though for the most part it is more foreplay than completion, there are those rare few whose playing is so extremely powerful, I literally come to the music. Am I alone in this? I don't believe so.

Pay attention to the music, the artists on stage, their facial expressions, if and when they let go & drown in the music their talented hands are producing as if by some magick, notice what your body, mind & even spirit are feeling, saying, doing, watch those around you, the closed eyes, the rocking bodies, the moans & screams & little deaths in climactic opera surrounding & sharing energy with you. What do you see? Feel? Hear? Experience? Think? Are you able to let go & surrender, or are you baffled by the joy others seem to be expressing that you can't give in to or allow yourself to risk? Interesting questions to ask oneself, don't you agree?

It's not only live performances that have this effect--the same is true of TV/DVD, radio, CD & stereo, whatever ways we listen whether alone or with a group. If you aren't feeling it, relax, close your eyes, open up to the possibilities & the pleasure, the vibes & energy are just waiting for you to accept them & join the orgy of pleasure the music brings often without cost or consequence, the truest form of safe sex, don't you think? ;-P

AWOLGina AKA Gina Jordan

Copyright August 24, 2011

FEELING IT!AWOLGinahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18390546994040652145noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6137584475190870981.post-34160525526764387602012-04-29T16:39:00.001-04:002012-04-29T16:42:49.126-04:00Cadillac Moon in Concert, together again?

Cadillac Moon Original Group

The band I used to work with, who just as they got famous playing the bar scene in Devil's Advocate with Al Pacino & Charlize Theron, the lead singer married his long time live in girlfriend who he let make him quit & it destroyed the band because his vocals were the sound, are back together performing live for an hour below. I can't stop crying, and I found this by accident today, their music can NOT be found anywhere online, or on CD anywhere, never mind live! I'm the only one who had live footage because they are the band I traveled with & filmed, the one I gave up music for 10 years over their breakup, the one who broke my heart, so to find this is an incredible gift & a rare special treat. It is blues jazz with a New Orleans sound though they are from LI, NY. I hope this means they will be performing regularly, and coming up my way again, I'd travel to them if necessary, whatever it takes. They got me started in this industry, my old film of them is on a dead hard drive (I still need to find someone certified to restore corrupted XP drives), no other film existed until now. Bawling my eyes out with joy, sadness, disbelief, bliss, and they sound exactly the same because the lead singer is back too (he looks like shit though, guess his marriage---which broke up the band--didn't agree with him?) and Mike Nugent looks the same as ever & sounds even better. Awesome is an understatement.
However my concerns were unfounded, everything is working perfectly. These come packaged in a beautiful boxed container

The DVD is the Making of Imaginaerum album and movie, roughly an hour 20 minutes long, with more behind the scenes & band member info than actual Making Of info unfortunately, though a bonanza for fans new & old, being able to see into the camaraderie and work ethics of such a group is always fascinating to me. However, I'd hoped for more than a peek into the coming movie of the same name. In fact, the only visual included is the music video for the single Storytime which is the introduction to Imaginaerum. The albums were released in Nov. 2011, so this digipack release was for the DVD, and includes both CD's, including an orchestral version I have yet to listen to.

Last night I viewed the DVD, which is subtitled in English with spoken Norwegian by the band. Interviews of all band members, along with a bit of each one's childhood history & images that would perhaps embarrass most of us, with very frank & revealing facts that can mostly already be found in Wiki, there's about 10 minutes combined of newer revelations, yet no fan will want to miss the DVD. A comedy roast of Marco is intermittently mixed in, their global touring and activities leading up to the release of the album are more focused on than their work, although we do get quite a few shots of Marco in the studio mixing tracks together, adding vocals and drum tracks, as well as the "boys" at a summer camp they had attended as boy scouts and used as their work location for the final polishing of the music for the album. Interesting that they were all wearing coats even in late Aug. & Spet. 2011.

We also get a peek into their label Nuclear Blast Records, which gives me more respect for this label, where most employees are dressed in jeans casual, the band members were more dressed up while still also in denim, than the label reps were. I was surprised to see such a phenomenal band with a relatively newer and smaller label, although this album is also under the Roadrunner label, they were not at all referred to in the DVD.

Any who denigrated Anette's vocals as a replacement for Tarja may have to eat their words when they hear the range of variety, talent & sound in this album. I know Tarja will regret having left this band when she hears the album, sees the movie & realizes she left right before they hit their stride. If anything, the band is doing better without her, and everyone seems much more relaxed & enmeshed than ever before, with their priorities & goals well matched. I look forward to much more to come, as Tuomas said, "What next?"

This album is unlike their previous albums in many ways, and to my ears is more classical operatic with metal aspects, than heavy metal music. As I've only listened to the primary CD so far & not the orchestral, I can't imagine the sound being more symphonic than the primary disc already is! Anette's vocal range is astounding on this album, and the styles the band create travel from the jazzy Slow Love Slow to the more metal Scaretale (which the band members all consider their favorite of the album), Song of Myself is an incredible spoken word piece using over 20 different people as different reader characters, another brilliant idea from Tuomas as is the entire concept. Tuomas is quick to state that he had a wonderful childhood that inspires his music, songwriting & storytelling.

Anette had several unfortunate incidents that kept her and Marco from recording their vocal tracks together for this album, and Tuomas was tasked with weaving them together in post. While one can not tell from listening that the vocals were recorded separately, I can only wonder how much better they might have sounded had the 2 vocalists been able to record together & feed off each other's energy & ideas?

The album is a journey in and of itself, without a movie or visuals, it takes the listener to surprising places within, and is a listening experience I can't compare to anything in existence. this is not an album to be listened to while engaged in other activities, especially thoughtful ones, because the listener finds oneself distracted often by the lyrics, or the particular high notes & range of Anette's voice, or the growling then sublime vocals of Marco, or the powerful & deeply felt drumming, the background choral singers, so I suggest one sit back and enjoy the ride without distractions getting in the way of the adventure.
It's been so long (and so many other books inbetween) since I read this that I had no expectations, and am sublimely satisfied that this is the best version ever portrayed in film. These actors lived & breathed the characters to life, one watches rapt, unable to look away. Excellent quality production, absolutely nothing left out or done shabbily. No corners cut. I'm beginning to love British films for the acting & locations, production & cinematography, everything is far & above what a US film would provide. The viewer is lost in time, immersed in the story from start to finish, and yes, a box of tissues should be handy for several parts of the film, not just the ending (which does have a hopeful positive note). Highly recommend this, even buying for watching again & again.

Emily Brontë's sweeping tale of romance set against the backdrop of the Yorkshire moors gets the "Masterpiece" treatment in this lush made-for-television adaptation starring Charlotte Riley and Tom Hardy. Cathy (Riley) eventually fell in love with Heathcliff (Hardy), the young Gypsy boy her father brought home years ago. But now that they're adults, another man (Tom Payne) is offering her his affections -- and a far more comfortable life.
Summary: To jump-start his career, wannabe journalist Dan (Luke Treadaway) sets out to write a juicy exposé on dogging, the practice of sleeping with strangers in parking lots. While researching the story, Dan falls for a curious co-ed (Kate Heppell) and struggles to overcome his hang-ups. This naughty British comedy co-stars Sammy T. Dobson as Dan's longtime girlfriend, Tanya, and Richard Riddell as his bed-hopping flatmate, Rob.
REVIEW: I thought it was a documentary but apparently it is a film pretending to be a documentary in style, which was an interesting viewpoint, since the viewer has no real idea whose view they are seeing of all the characters, which gets confusing at times. The sexual content is definitely R if not a soft X even, which is fine with me, but if the word twat bothers you, don't watch this, it is used more often than the F-bomb in other movies. An interesting twist on a love story, meeting through a sex web site, arranging to meet for public sex & all that goes wrong between the decision & the actuality, if there ever is one, is much of the movie's content. For voyeurs, this movie is a pearl. For exhibitionists, inspiring perhaps? This kind of movie would never be shown in US theaters, too sexy & raunchy for the hypocritical prudes here. A fun movie, not for kids, but perhaps couples would enjoy this raunchy comedic romance. I know I would see it with a guy if I had one.
AWOLGinahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18390546994040652145noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6137584475190870981.post-74562052386770186322012-04-07T16:53:00.001-04:002012-04-07T16:53:29.205-04:00Biker's Poem--I Saw You

I saw you,
hug your purse closer to you in the grocery store line.

But, you didn't see me,
put an extra $10.00 in the collection plate last Sunday.

I saw you,
pull your child closer when we passed each other on the sidewalk.

But, you didn't see me,
playing Santa at the local mall.

I saw you,
change your mind about going into the restaurant.

But, you didn't see me,
attending a meeting to raise more money for the hurricane relief.

I saw you,
roll up your window and shake your head when I drove by.

But, you didn't see me,
driving behind you when you flicked your cigarette butt out the car window.

I saw you,
frown at me when I smiled at your children.

But, you didn't see me,
when I took time off from work to run toys to the homeless.

I saw you,
roll your eyes at our leather coats and gloves.
But, you didn't see me,
cry as my children where born and have their name written over and in my heart.

I saw you,
change lanes while rushing off to go somewhere.

But, you didn't see me,
going home to be with my family.

I saw you,
complain about how loud and noisy our bikes can be.

But, you didn't see me,
when you were changing the CD and drifted into my lane.

I saw you,
yelling at your kids in the car.

But, you didn't see me,
pat my child's hands, knowing he was safe behind me.

I saw you,
reading the newspaper or map as you drove down the road.

But, you didn't see me,
squeeze my wife's leg when she told me to take the next turn.

This morning I've been thinking of the state of our nation, and the meaning of recent actions by President Obama that seem to be escaping the general public's notice or concern. Is it that American's are ignorant, blind, intentionally stupid when it comes to policies that are harmful to innocent people whether in our country or international? How is it there is no uproar in response to Obama's signing away our constitutional rights, not once but TWICE so far in 2012???

First of all, the power was already in the government's hands to detain people without due process, and they have abused that power repeatedly by jailing the wrong suspects, & the innocent, for years without legal access or rights. Now the govt. wants to apply this to American citizens within our own country. Does anyone feel safer from all the lost rights we already gave up since Bush started this process? Doesn't taking away our constitutional rights make the "terrorists" win? How is taking away our right to due process making us safer???

Secondly, Obama got away with it the 1st time, then signed in another violation of our rights within a month of the 1st & no one is paying attention. How can anyone even consider voting for such a POTUS who has violated our rights & his most solemn oath to UPHOLD the constitution of the United States? The only result that can come from such a measure, is the govt.'s freedom to abuse their power in jailing ANY CITIZEN it decides is a threat in ANY way: people protesting peacefully are already getting a taste of this power abuse, before our rights to due process were signed away! With the new policy, any one protesting any govt. action can be seen as a "traitor" or a "terrorist" or a threat to the security of the govt. monopoly of power, and detained indefinitely with no legal protections. Too many people are making excuses--oh that will never happen, you're blowing this up out of proportion, & similar justifications for remaining willfully ignorant. We will still be accountable for the harm we cause to the innocent, even if we refuse to acknowledge the harms done, just as we are accountable to laws whether we know they are a law or not; ignorance is NOT an acceptable defense in court, nor will it be acceptable in defense of our actions against others, whether in our nation or global.

Third, for those who are not seeing the parallels between the German Gestapo & Nazi actions against Jews & other "undesirables", and our actions against Muslims & similar "undesirables" or anyone resisting the new status quo, policy or dare I say, new world order, wake the hell up. When the Nazi's 1st came into power, the changes were so subtle no one really believed nor understood how far their govt. meant to go, until it was too late & they watched people being dragged away in the middle of the night, without reason or crime, to never be seen or heard from again. Families were destroyed, their property stolen by the govt. & soldiers in the streets, people were beaten & killed for nothing more than being an "undesirable" of the regime in control.

We are in the exact same situation that Germany was in before the Nazi's came into full power. The changes here are subtle, people don't want to believe or understand the far reaching abuses already happening, nor the potential for abuses that are now being made into laws that ordinary citizens will have NO RIGHTS to fight legally or otherwise! How is it we are going about our daily lives ignoring these facts? Those who blamed the German citizens for following the Nazi's without protest, we are now doing the exact same thing! We are not protesting the violations of our own rights, never mind those of the "undesirables", whether they be Muslim, peaceful protesters or bothersome citizens of our country.

When we are being dragged out in the middle of the night, with no legal rights and no reason or justification, never to be seen again, it will be too late to pay attention or take action. In fact, it may already be too late, considering the actions Obama has already taken against the citizens he is charged to represent & protect! When we are the new Nazi's, will you try to excuse your willful ignorance & say you didn't know? You will be lying, you DID know, you DO know, and there's no excuse for not having taken some action to prevent this from happening. Being busy is no excuse for not saving a life.

I am extremely concerned about these matters, yet feel powerless to stop them from happening. I don't have the money, or the influence or the reach to reverse the violations already in place, and if I could, I would leave this country & never look back. I felt this way when Bush became President, not by our votes but by a nepotistic Supreme Court judge related to his family. I've been ashamed of my country of birth for 12 years now. Instead of seeing anything improve over time as I'd hoped, our country has only become more greedy, power hungry & despotic in its reach for absolute power, over the world, not just out little nation.

However, with our economy derailed, only the top 1% can actually afford to emigrate, and their needs are being catered to by our govt., they aren't going to leave! The intelligent, concerned & compassionate citizens are the ones too poor to leave, those like me without the resources to relocate to a truly free society in another country outside the reach of the totalitarian US govt., and I can't help but see this as part of the overall plan. Those who don't believe there IS a plan, are purposely blind. All these changes have taken a decade to put into place, slowly but surely, worse is coming, such as the ACTA, SOPA & infinite names for the same action that the govt. keeps trying to slip in without notice (they just keep renaming it & trying again, until eventually we won't be watching & BOOM, too late AGAIN).

A citizenship without the money or power to fight back, has to be part of the plan, we the people no longer even have the right to peaceful protest without extreme harm being done to those exercising their American rights to such protest, by those who work FOR us!

If one wanted to OPT OUT of the US, emigrate elsewhere, what happens to all the money we paid into the system for a lifetime, our taxes, disability, unemployment insurance & other MANDATORY thefts of our earnings over our entire life? Not that there's any money in those coffers for those who have been paying faithfully & without choice, also without any input in what is done with our own money as a nation or state entity. Do we leave as refugees, begging for mercy from the truly civilized & free countries? Where is the UN to protect us when our govt. becomes like Sadaam was to his citizens? Who will rescue us from the abuses our govt. have visited upon we the innocent? With our govt. becoming the new Nazi's, who will come to battle for our lives, our freedom & our safety?

Think about it, please. THINK. Wake up! Pay attention. Pull your heads out of your asses, or out of the sand they are buried in, and LOOK. Do your own research, make up your own mind, but do it deliberately, for you will be held accountable for your actions, and ignorance will NOT be an acceptable excuse.

April Fools' Day is celebrated in different countries around the world on April 1 every year. Sometimes referred to as All Fools' Day, April 1 is not a national holiday, but is widely recognized and celebrated as a day when many people play all kinds of jokes and foolishness. The day is marked by the commission of good-humoured or otherwise funny jokes, hoaxes, and other practical jokes of varying sophistication on friends, family members, teachers, neighbors, work associates, etc.

Traditionally, in some countries such as Canada, New Zealand, the UK, Australia, Cyprus, and South Africa, the jokes only last until noon, and someone who plays a trick after noon is called an "April Fool" and taunted "April Fool's Day's past and gone, You're the fool for making one."[1] Elsewhere, such as in France, Italy, South Korea, Japan, Russia, The Netherlands, Germany, Brazil, Ireland, and the U.S., the jokes last all day. Their top 3 prank ideas today:

Nailed Ya!

Find a small picture, a wall calendar, or similar item that can be hung up. Take a nail and use wire cutters to cut off the nail head, then glue the nail head to the item you're going to hang. Now glue a magnet to the back of the item. Take the item to the kitchen, along with a hammer. Stick the item to the refrigerator with the magnet, then start making a loud banging sound with the hammer. Hopefully, your victim will come to investigate the noise, and "catch" you nailing a picture to the refrigerator. (Note: you can play this trick on other surfaces as well wherever your victim will freak out about having a nail hole!)

Submitted by Emily

Pulling A Con

Is there a ceiling fan with an overhead light that your victim turns on using a pull cord? Trick them by substituting a fake pull cord attached to a cup of confetti balanced on top of the fan blade. Many fan cords detach which will make this easy to set up--otherwise use a substitute cord and tuck the real cord out of sight. They will pull the cord and get a big surprise!

Hanky Painty

First scope out a local park, college, or other public area that has benches where people frequently sit. Note the color of the benches. Now find some paint that matches the color of the benches. Take some old clothes and paint stripes on the back of the clothes - make them look like you sat on a freshly-painted bench. Let the clothes dry, then put them on. Now go to the park. Tape a "Wet Paint" sign to the bench, then sit down with your back covering the sign so no one can see it. Wait for someone to come and sit next to you. When you are sure they are watching, stand up with your back showing and act upset that you just realized you sat in paint (point to the sign which is now visible). The person will freak out thinking they sat in paint!

Submitted by Scott M.

In support of Black March 2012, I lay awake last night, trying to sleep as usual with music running through my head, and failing, I was making a list in my mind of all the independent music groups I have bought albums & such from since I got back online in early 2011, or from May 2011 until now.
This list will be added to as any forgotten ones come to mind, and links may be added for any missing currently. My hope is to provide readers with excellent sources of great music, as well as sharing the pleasure of the sound & helping the artists find new fans for their work. The genre categories are NOT official, they are a short hand way for me to suggest just one genre an artist might belong to, you can make your own determinations for yourself. There are countless sub-genres and often they are as subjective as what socks one chooses to wear for the day, an individual definition that often can not be applied to one band, sometimes not even one song (many have multiple styles within one song, or one album, in one band).

I'm having difficulty finding the right lyrics for the theme I want to write a song about, so I decided it might be fun to see what others could come up with on the theme, maybe even make it a regular game of sorts.

The THEME is: The push pull of relationships, attraction vs. repulsion

Explained: In some relationships people are only attracted as long as the object of the affection is NOT interested in them, then once they get the person interested, they themselves lose interest. Like a chase of sorts, as long as the person is unobtainable, or appears to be so, the excitement lasts. Once the love object wants one back, suddenly one feels smothered, overwhelmed, needs space, etc. This is actually a form of love addiction & fear of intimacy rolled into one. We want intimacy but have no idea how to deal with it once we get it, so we run the other way, until we aren't being chased, then suddenly we become the one chasing while the other runs.

It's a difficult concept to explain, or understand, but I am sure 99% of people know exactly what it feels like to be on this seesaw, as one of the other, or both.

So my challenge to you is to write at least 4 lyrical sentences that rhyme in some way (not every line has to rhyme), with matching syllables (also not every line, can be every other line or every 4th, etc.), a chorus or the entire lyric for a song. You may use the comment section here, or submit them under this topic on G+, and I will collate all of them (if anyone even attempts to meet this dare) to post for voting & feedback at the end of April 2012.

Have fun & good luck :)

You push me
I want you
You pull me
I hate you
you chase me away
every other day
I can't keep on
running this way
A difficult movie to review really, because technically it is excellent, the acting was superb, especially for Roemer the main character, Shue is as always top as are the rest [Patton & Conroy (6 feet under fame!)]. As for depicting the factual psychological disorder, the credibility is like swiss cheese. I suppose for the plot to be exciting some false stereotypes needed to be included? I just wish it had been done "right" instead of sacrificing truth for drama. The concept of the movie & how it was presented are phenomenal, perfectly done & viewers are better off going in cold, with no set idea or expectations (phone sex not part of movie at all, etc). No reason at all for the R rating, any teen could easily see this. No nudity, language issues, one hinted at sex scene (only see her face), all things most kids see on TV or games daily. Definitely worth the watch, rented or streamed, though not worth buying, sorry. AWOLGinahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18390546994040652145noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6137584475190870981.post-36017395683222574742012-03-13T23:52:00.000-04:002012-03-13T23:52:08.785-04:00The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest (movie review)

4 of 5 stars for this part 3 of 3 in trilogy; 5 stars of 5 each for parts 1 and 2

I believe all the major loose ends are tied up here, and this is an integral part of the trilogy to be seen in order, to understand what is going on in each of these 3 parts. I plan to watch the other materials over the next week to see if there are any differences or crucial parts missing as some reviewers claim, but as a viewer who has NOT read the books, these movies were & are better than anything in our US cinema in decades. The production quality alone is substantial, the character driven plots, the realism, suspense & resolutions. This 3rd part was a bit less than the other 2 parts, in subtle ways, but it was not in any way slow! No one can ever film a movie from a book & satisfy readers, because the imagery is part of a fantasy for each reader & can never match it completely. I never understand why they then complain as if it were supposed to be made their way. I've enjoyed these 3 films more than any film in a long long time. Worth buying the full set. AWOLGinahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18390546994040652145noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6137584475190870981.post-34735899414663270432012-03-12T22:51:00.000-04:002012-03-12T22:51:00.643-04:00The Girl Who Played With Fire (Movie review)

Movie Synopsis:

The Girl Who Played with Fire(Flickan Som Lekte Med Elden)2009NR129 minutes

Tech expert Lisbeth Salander (Noomi Rapace) becomes the prime suspect when two journalists, including Dag Svensson (Hans Christian Thulin), die afterMillennium magazine publisher Mikael Blomkvist (Michael Nyqvist) launches an exposé of the Swedish sex trade. In Part 2 of the trilogy based on the action novels of Stieg Larsson, the vampiric Salander vanishes as Blomkvist digs deep into a possible conspiracy.

REVIEW: 5 of 5 stars

An amazing film, just as good as the 1st part, will watch 3rd part tomorrow. The character development in this satisfies those who complained of it lacking before, I can't wait now to watch part 3. The acting is so realistic, the dialogue & actions so credible, I felt like a voyeur. Lisbeth is much more likable and understandable after this one. I hope they end up together in the 3rd one, because it's clear they care about each other quite a bit. This one didn't leave many, if any, loose ends, though one should see part 1 before this, to understand where these characters are at & what is driving them forward. A bit more gore & blood, violence & cruelty in this 2nd part. There came a time that I thought Lisbeth was dead, but knowing a 3rd part was coming I also knew it wasn't possible, or hoped it wasn't anyway. Despite subtitles, they never slowed down my comprehension of this movie, & time flew by with 2+ hours seeming like 30 minutes. I highly recommend this!
AWOLGinahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18390546994040652145noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6137584475190870981.post-16774146308856062882012-03-11T20:22:00.000-04:002012-03-11T20:22:00.072-04:00Thing My Mother Taught Me1.

Other than Keanu playing this somewhat woodenly, the acting overall was great, as were production values, graphics, fair dialogue, streamed well, would highly recommend seeing it, even in a theater, I may buy a copy. The movie disc though had plenty of room for special features, but had shite, a 2nd disc with 60 minutes of nothing special features has the rest. There was only one scene at the start where the CGI was easily seen, otherwise seamless. On this disc comes the movie, the APC music video for Passive, 2 trailers for this movie, commentary & that's it. Perhaps because I'm NOT a comic book fan I had no expectations to disappoint, so this movie is fantastic as is, loved the plot & tight focus, did not get bogged down in extraneous stories, a welcome change. Spooky but not gory or super suspenseful. There's really no reason for an R rating, no sex, no language issues, the violence is about video game level.

An excellent & informative film that allows both sides equal attention & detail, so how is it reviewers can accuse THIS of being propaganda, but not FSD itself? Or maybe they are on the payroll of pharma. The truth is that our culture is creating diseases to treat NORMAL human emotions, experiences, ups & downs, before long there will be, or already is, a pill for EVERY feeling or lack of a feeling. This documentary proves that the women are NOT the focus, the money & being first to develop that magic drug--who cares if it actually works better than the placebo or is dangerous, even fatal, hey, one more orgasm a month is worth it they say. Huh?! Are we so stupid we'd fall for this? Excellent documentary that showed a truth few will ever get a chance to see, and even fewer seem willing to educate themselves on the issue rather than going for what they are told is a quick fix. There are non-medical ways to treat dysfunctions in the few who actually suffer them, that do work. Start there.

I definitely recommend seeing this film, for both men and women, and before taking any action toward treating a made-up disease that does NOT exist, the numbers were made up from flawed data that did not adjust for non-medical reasons for lack of response, instead it included psychological, emotional, or just plain tired, not in the mood, turned off by one's partner & a host of other reasons for no sexual response in a situation, that any drug will never address, never mind cure. If even one question was answered yes, that was considered a sexual dysfunction--being too tired at the end of a 16 hour work day, how would the drug fix that? Why do we allow ourselves to be so ignorant about our sexuality, our very sex organs themselves?

When pharmaceutical reps were asked fairly simple questions such as what IS female sexual dysfunction, they literally stuttered with NO answer, or declined to give one for fear of losing their jobs, though some did admit that the drug existed BEFORE the disease, but because the FDA requires a drug must treat a disease in order to be approved, the disease of FSD was created to justify the treatment. When the FDA denied approval due to health & life risks for very little if any result, Proctor and Gamble sold it to Europe where it is now available online worldwide, though I'm sure the patients are not told what the risks are nor that the long term use of the hormones have NOT been studied! The women are paying to be guinea pigs for P&G. Shame on these doctors, celebrities (including Oprah & her Bergman twins), pharmacy reps & others pushing this get rich quick scheme at the risk of a woman's life, for non significant study results (meaning the drugs were proven NOT to work)!

The documentary itself is well organized & presented, with all side being explored fully & factually, great quality, definitely worth renting, perhaps even buying a few copies to give as gifts to friends who will want to borrow yours & pass it on, let's educate as many women as possible, so that the big drug companies lose their target market. An hour 18 minutes long.
AWOLGinahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18390546994040652145noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6137584475190870981.post-12232327180303649022012-02-29T20:39:00.000-05:002012-02-29T20:40:27.275-05:00Wrecked: Movie Review

1st, the entire film is done in ONE place, more than half in a car, the rest outside the car. Right up to the last minute one keeps waiting for something to happen to make this movie make some sense. It never does. With 20 minutes left I knew it was a loser of a film, but by then I figured may as well see what they used to justify an ending. A cell phone that traveled a river for miles, now works? So many loose ends are left hanging, we never know what happened to the dog or to the black guy, or to the main character or the woman.

Credibility is completely shot which is amazing in such a limited scenario. This was a poor attempt to remake Memento, a dismal failure. What was good about it? Brody's acting was brilliant, he cried exactly the way I would have (& have done) in same or similar situations, that frustrated want to give up cry. One feels & experiences all of this as if you are the main character. Otherwise, give it a pass.AWOLGinahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18390546994040652145noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6137584475190870981.post-79590125133094929822012-02-28T01:09:00.001-05:002012-02-28T01:09:47.159-05:00Carriers & ExTerminators (2 Reviews 4 the price of 1)

NOT a zombie movie though there are some aspects of that in this, not an action flick though there is some action, not a blood & guts movie though there's a bit of that too. A slow moving character driven story about tough choices, although I felt the choices weren't as emotionally laden as they should have been. It's very hard to know who to root for & your choice may change by the end. Nothing is shown about how this happened, or where they started from. The plot is very simply as is in description, don't expect more than that & you'll enjoy the movie. Recommend either cable TV or streaming, definitely not a buy, nor worth renting. One plot hole that bugged me, I kept wondering why the father of the little girl wasn't sick, & how the one male main character DID get sick (can't say who without spoiling it. I agree with the 14+ rating. However this is a bleak and troubling film to expose a young teen to.
Didn't make me laugh but surprised myself into liking it anyway, really didn't expect to want to keep watching but before I knew it I was hooked. The acting in this is superb & so believable, one does not expect this caliber of acting in such a film. The story line was OK, some big holes & credibility issues, like arsenic not an instant killer, but most will be willing to overlook it because it is entertaining enough. I would not want to pay to see this in a theater or to rent or buy it, but to watch "free" on cable or streaming, definitely recommended. More of a chick flick but I know the guys will love the skin these ladies show a lot of, no nudity but plenty of tease. Not for young impressionable teens or younger kids, the message may not be received as comedy for them. A strangely good film for a revenge fantasy flick.AWOLGinahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18390546994040652145noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6137584475190870981.post-7082083582921289232012-02-26T20:25:00.000-05:002012-02-28T01:26:46.498-05:00Psychotropic RXs Fatal 2 All

Below is an hour 34 minute documentary with factual evidence and interviews with actual doctors and others in the field--former or current--who have been exposed to the truths that society as a whole is NOT privy too regarding the dangers, ineffectiveness, long term damage and fatalities in a majority of cases prescribed even ONE medication, and in many cases unnecessarily or for misdiagnosed conditions. People are killing themselves, or others, after only days or a week on some medications, and informed consent is almost never provided. This may be the most important 94 minutes one can spend on educating oneself and loved ones, as well as your doctors.

Personally, I was prescribed over 23 different medications for over 10 years, and it turned out that nearly all of them were creating the disability, sickness & symptoms the drugs were being prescribed to treat! I was home bound, bed bound, for 10 years because of the medications, NOT any illness or disability! Not once did any doctor suggest going off these medications & in fact many pressured & threatened me if I refused to take them, to the point of being discharged as a patient because I refused to take medications that were CONTRA-indicated & would cause MY CERTAIN DEATH if taken! Repeatedly I was prescribed drugs that had interactions with all my other drugs, despite the doctors having all of my medical & medication history, often it was my pharmacist who saved my life, or after I smartened up & started reading the patient info packets, I'd then refuse to take the medication that was often worse or more dangerous than the condition supposedly being treated.

When each drug causes at least 3-5 side effects, multiplied by 23 different drugs per day, that's a possible 110 side effects daily from the medication alone, to treat a handful (5 or less) of actual problems! Every side effect had another drug prescribed for it, that then had another side effect that then had another drug prescribed, on into infinity. No wonder I was so ill and lost a decade of my life to trusting these doctors to have my best interests in mind as a trusted doctor who swore the Hippocratic oath to never cause harm.

I went off 23+ different medications between Jan. 2011 and March 2011, broke 5 major bones (compound breaks, not mere fractures) from falls caused by the seizures of going through withdrawals that the doctors refused to treat me safely for, and have the hospital records to prove it, and worse, I was refused treatment all 3 times I went to the emergency room, including when I broke two ribs on each side, my sternum and my back all in one weekend! When I had seizures, they locked me in a room with the door closed, and no monitoring equipment on me to measure the seizures and nothing to protect me, for over 3 & 1/2 hours, before coming in to say I was being discharged without treatment! When I protested, they called me combative & sent me out with no transportation home, knowing I was seizing and could have been relieved easily with the most basic of treatment. When I began having heart trouble as a result of these multiple effects, I was terrified of going to that hospital again, because I was convinced I would die there with no one being held responsible then or to this day, for what they did & failed to do for me as a patient.

Instead, without any medical training at all, I had to be my own doctor, wean myself off the medications as best I could with what limited amount I had left, meaning much too fast, which directly caused my severe injuries & repeat ambulance delivered hospital visits, but I survived out of sheer orneriness if nothing else. I had not been able to eat for 10 years without taking medications--four different RXs--for controlling nausea & creating an appetite, for which they never really worked or I would not have needed 4 of them! When I went off my meds & had severe stomach pains one afternoon, I had no idea what was going on, fearing an ulcer from all the stress. It had been over a decade since I had felt any hunger for food, so I did not recognize the feelings of starvation, or hunger pains. I ate some crackers and the pain eased, putting two & two together I realized I'd been feeling what normal hunger was like when ignored for an entire day (which had been my norm before). I celebrated the return of hunger, and the more I ate, the more weight I lost, because my metabolism started working again, my stomach could depend on regular meals, so my body no longer needed to store fat for reserves.

It seems incredible not to have known what was happening as it was happening. I could and probably should write an entire book on the ten years & this year since going off my meds. I live in a 2nd floor apt. now, no home health aide, no cane or hospital bed, no handful of pills every four hours, no living in a fugue of pills anymore. Each small victory I've celebrated, the biggest being when I moved with only 2 days notice, and NO HELP to pack an entire apt. of belongings, where I was not allowed to do the kind of lifting & movements required to pack, yet I had no choice. Movers did the physical moving of those boxes between locations, but I did all the work of packing & unpacking, alone. I'm still not fully unpacked yet nearly 7 months later, yet the day after the move I had expected to be crippled for a week, and instead I worked another two days before I needed a full day of rest and some motrin took care of the pain. Impossible to imagine even two months or two weeks before that date.

I still take two medications regularly and I am definitely decreasing the dose over the next 4 weeks until I am off the one for sleep, because it has caused some severe side effects & I don't want to start this whole circus all over again, nor am I willing to take this drug for the rest of my life, for insomnia I've had since childhood. Worse, the medication does NOT give me sleep, not reliably and not quality rest, so why bother taking something that does not work, yet causes serious side effects as well as long term physical harm, which I have already went through surgeries for this same drug's results over 20 years ago? My body needs to recover on its own and rebalance after a decade of these meds for sleep, eating, pain, you name it, my chemistry is more unbalanced because of the meds, and my body will heal itself if given the chance. I never gave it that chance and after seeing this documentary I realize I've been victimized by the medical & psychiatric community for decades, and if I continue taking these drugs knowing all I know now, I am also victimizing myself. I can't in good conscience continue a regimen I KNOW will, and has in past, cause me great harm, much greater than the discomfort of lack of sleep could ever justify.

I'm not suggesting anyone else follow my example, or treat themselves without medical consultation, I'm only knowledgeable about my own experiences, conditions and motivational drive. Instead, I suggest one begin by requiring informed consent immediately from every doctor prescribing one any medication for any purpose. Educate oneself starting NOW by watching this documentary, FREE, in your own home, in comfort, paying total attention. Follow up by doing your own research, as I have done, looking into the actual studies done on the medications you take, the side effects known & common as well as those that are not as common yet still happen to enough people to be mentioned--then imagine the ones the corrupt studies are NOT reporting, are hiding behind falsified data and agenda driven studies. If one's been on a medication for many years, or has been told one needs a medication for life, look into the facts on the condition & the medication, demand the proof, read the studies, ask your pharmacist for the free printing of information for any medication you are taking now, have ever taken or before taking anything newly prescribed.

There's so much more I can say from experience, so much more I have learned, but this is enough to get one started on the path to enlightenment on one's own path to wellness. I could be bitter and angry that I lost ten years of my life for no medical reason, or I can choose to celebrate that I am given a second chance to live after expecting to be home bound for life & to die without ever having lived again. I can be grateful I took the initiative to educate myself & go through all I did to free myself of those prescriptions that were in fact killing me, some faster than others, and I may never know how much harm was caused by them. I'm getting healthier in mind & body every day, as long as I continue to educate myself & trust my own instincts, to listen to what my body is telling me.

Learn from my experience, don't repeat it. Let my suffering be enough to veer you off that similar path, don't learn the hard way as I did (and seem to do on everything, learn the hard way that is). Children are now being killed by these medications given under false diagnoses so psychiatrists and drug companies can get rich at the innocent's loss of life and health & function. Educate yourself, read the fine print, ask questions & demand INFORMED CONSENT. Start by watching this film, and by sharing it with your loved ones and medical professionals.

For instance, the police claimed that legalizing or decriminalizing marijuana would NOT stop the drug cartels & violence, and used ONE example of a MM dispensary being robbed with two employees being killed. What they did NOT disclose was how many NON-MM-dispensary type businesses had been robbed with deaths during same period? Out of the 700 dispensaries, ONLY ONE was robbed, and this was the California Police Chief's "evidence" that drug cartels won't go away??? The only reason these cartels do exist is to sell a product that is in great demand & has been made illegal for political, NOT medical, reasons. Just as Prohibition of alcohol created organized crime, so does the prohibition of marijuana. Remove the profit to drug cartels, and they will need to focus their activities elsewhere, period. Drug cartels aren't going to risk their lives & freedom for a legal readily available product they can no longer make a profit from.

Also, the California Police Chiefs claimed that dealers of illegal marijuana will go to any violent lengths to sell their product, even killing. How is that any different than what the police are doing to people innocent of any violent crime? Police are killing people for using a plant recreationally who are not committing any harmful crimes against anyone. Then there are all the drug raids & people killed because the police went to the wrong house of truly innocent people and killed them too, as they kill, beat & harm the users of marijuana as if they were rapists & murderers! Which brings up another point: our prisons are full of non-violent offenders to the point that murderers, rapists & thieves are being released years & sometimes decades too soon in order to provide more room for drug offenders! How many citizens would rather have a drug user released than a rapist or serial killer??? Why is the voice of the people and the common sense involved not being given ANY importance?

Another outrageous claim that was NOT addressed by science, evidence or anything but opinions in rebuttal, is that smoking marijuana is as dangerous as tobacco & had 33 known carcinogens. First, marijuana is impossible to smoke at the level tobacco is smoked, no one could smoke an entire pack of joints in a day as they do cigarettes! Second, tobacco has HUNDREDS of carcinogens, marijuana has less carcinogens than the air we breath, the water we drink, the food & "legal" drugs the FDA approves for us to consume! Even alcohol has more danger in health terms than a heavy user of marijuana will ever face. Third, marijuana does NOT have to be smoked & is in fact more effective & longer lasting if eaten prepared in foods such as the documentary showed a chef creating: chocolate bars, peanut butter, cookies, cupcakes, brownies, butter, countless products the chef was making using marijuana as an ingredient, the arguments against marijuana due to carcinogens falls apart at these evidenciary facts.

One of the claims made by the Feds is that marijuana has NO medical use. An outright bald lie considering how much evidence is available to prove the opposite, that marijuana has MORE medical uses than probably ANY other drug and is safer than OTC & prescribed medications approved for us by the FDA! In fact, synthetic THC is already approved by the FDA in a drug called Marinol, for use to treat nausea & other medical problems associated with cancer, HIV & other diseases. If as the feds claim, marijuana had NO medical uses, why then is the main component of marijuana available as a drug regulated by the FDA??? There are countless studies proving the efficacy of medical marijuana, as well as the safety of using marijuana as a replacement for alcohol or tobacco or any other commonly used aid for stress relief and relaxation, including the fact that marijuana is NOT addictive, does not impair ability to drive or function, and is not implicated in violent crimes against people (other than the violence involved in obtaining the drug illegally), and in fact is a deterrent to crime because of the recognized effects of the drug itself.

Many do not know that marijuana is classified as a more dangerous drug than cocaine, meth/amphetamines & morphine. Our govt. classification system is in fact saying using cocaine is safer than using marijuana! Drugs that can never have any medicinal value due to their dangers are called Class One drugs & include heroin, LSD & marijuana. Class 2 includes cocaine, amphetamines & morphine. The higher the classification number, the safer the drug is considered by the feds. Marijuana is considered a gateway drug, that using it leads to other drug addictions, but all the drugs marijuana supposedly leads to using are classified as LESS dangerous than marijuana itself, so this argument falls apart and makes those claiming such appear to be idiots, yet these are the very people in charge of deciding what is and is not safe for us to use!
Not a single death or overdose has been attributed to marijuana substance use. Nor is there physical withdrawal from ceasing use. Aspirin is available over the counter to anyone and kills a large number of people.

The arguments that legalizing marijuana would cause drug use to increase, would make addicts of our children, would create a drug culture, and lead to more crime, are all false. Other countries that have decriminalized marijuana in fact found the use DECREASED, the associated crimes dropped significantly, under age use was lowered, and those countries are instead gaining taxes & income from the sale & use of marijuana. These facts were covered in the documentary, stating that nowhere is marijuana actually legal, instead it has been decriminalized, which means it is not prosecuted though it remains illegal. This has worked so well that decades have gone by under the same policy successfully.

Minorities are arrested for marijuana use at a rate of 9 out of 10 arrests being non-whites. Yet whites use marijuana at incredibly higher levels than do minorities, especially blacks, according to this documentary & the evidence. Police corruption & racial discrimination in the apprehension of marijuana users is evident in these numbers most strongly in NYC, but the trend is a national stain on our society. How else to explain that 90% of marijuana users are white, yet 90% of the imprisoned marijuana users are non-whites?

Marijuana is in fact not legal in any country according to this documentary. Often we believe Jamaica is a haven of ganja smoking Rastafarians when in fact, marijuana is as illegal there as anywhere else & is strongly enforced. Marijuana is only decriminalized, meaning the laws are NOT enforced but do still remain on the books. Countries we often wrongly think have legalized marijuana have only decriminalized it, such as Amsterdam in Holland, where tourists & locals alike use marijuana in public coffee shops, and can purchase up to 5 grams legally, to use in the shop or take home. This is one of the largest and longest examples of the effects of decriminalizing marijuana use, in which crime, drug use & related negatives actually decreased.

A claim was made that the money to be made in taxing marijuana if legalized, would not cover the costs of the health problems using marijuana legally would cause. Huh??? What health problems are proven to be caused by marijuana use??? As they often claim billions of dollars in health care costs for tobacco smokers yet have not proven that any one who smokes gets cancer or any other disorder they try to claim a societal expense for, marijuana is much safer than most over the counter drugs, and proven safer than tobacco, alcohol & other legal substance uses combined! In fact, when one researches the facts behind these false claims, it's readily apparent the numbers are made up completely. I suspect that marijuana health problems are being attributed to any one who ever in their life smoked a joint or even KNEW SOME ONE who smoked a joint, whether their health problem has anything to do with the drug, since they need to create the numbers & health "crisis" claims for which such data does NOT exist.

One fact many do not know is that the US forced 180 other countries to sign a pact to criminalize marijuana, and the US puts pressure on these countries to cooperate with the US in it's drug war & other efforts to stop drug use, which have all failed & cost we taxpayers enormously in money, death, crime, violence, corruption, loss of freedom & constitutional rights, a police state form of government and in the loss of so many citizens to prison, where instead of being "rehabilitated" they learn how to become true criminals, these non-violent inmates are released knowing much more about how to commit crimes & successfully, than they ever knew going into the prisons as a simple drug user, or grower, or even distributor. These are costs we unwillingly pay, as a majority of citizens have made clear to the powers that be that we want marijuana decriminalized at the LEAST & legalized for general use, and for medical use immediately, yet the feds are still prosecuting marijuana using patients in states where using medical marijuana has been voted in by its people as legal. Our taxes pay for every bit of these losses & costs to society as a whole.

Bag of Bones is a Stephen King novel made into a better movie than most of his works have been. One thing you must know going in is that this movie, on netflix streaming anyway, is a TWO-PART two episode film, each roughly 85 minutes long. Called a mini-series, is misleading in that this is just a two part film, not a series.
At 1st I was upset because I didn't know it was in 2 parts, then didn't know if 2nd part finished or another season was planned. So for those wondering, the 2nd part ends the story, everyone gets what they deserve except one, and most plot holes are sealed. There were some issues of credibility sprinkled throughout, but overall this was one of the better King screen adaptations. I didn't like the commercial break edits & wish they would just remove those before releasing a film this way. I'd read the book long enough ago that this was new to me again, I think other reviewers have read it more recently & so were disappointed, not I. This was well acted by all involved, an amazing cast who fit perfectly into their roles & balanced each other well. Definitely worth watching & better than most other King books made movies. However, skip the 1st 5 minutes of the 2nd episode, it is exactly the same as the 1st episode to the point I wasn't sure it was a new episode at all.
Enjoy.AWOLGinahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18390546994040652145noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6137584475190870981.post-57935617726429228202012-02-22T21:03:00.001-05:002012-02-22T21:03:25.654-05:00Achmed the Terrorist has a Son!Jeff Dunham's new show Controlled Chaos introduces a new character, Achmed the Terrorist has a son. However, his entire set was made of making fun of the audience, which would be ok if a warm up or end of show deal, not the WHOLE show. What was up with the DJ booth for all of 30 seconds at beginning & end of show? For those who dislike swears he uses the F word and the C word a LOT, doesn't bug me but it was probably unnecessary to that extent. Same with bathroom humor, every comedian seems to fall back on crap jokes, why is that? Very few make it worth the listen. Sorry but even if free, I would not watch this again, nor do I recommend buying it or renting, although on a day when there's not much else to do & nothing on? Maybe on TV while doing something else, as background noise.AWOLGinahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18390546994040652145noreply@blogger.com0
